Today is International Butch Appreciation Day (at least according to Facebook!), and in honor of that, here is a little love letter to butch women.
Dear Butches,
I adore you. I love the way you make me feel: beautiful, honored, safe and strong. I love the way I can make you feel: beautiful, honored, safe and strong. Thank you for being my safe place to land. Thank you for holding me when I cry and for letting me hold you and your tears. Thank you for your humor, your flirtation, your intelligence. Thank you for being brave enough to walk in this world unashamed of your woman’s body and your lesbian heart. Thank you for respecting me and really seeing me. Thank you for being defenders and champions of women. Thank you for wearing ties!
I adore you. You are my friends, my lovers, my confidants. You are Wanted, just the way you are, and you are loved.
Xoxoxo, Cordelia
It's nice to be appreciated by someone, especially in a society that generally considers butches ugly.

If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound?
Is a butch still a butch without the complement of a femme?
I feel most like my truest self, a queer butch woman, when I am with an intelligent, sassy, confident femme.
Know that we butches appreciate you femmes as much as you appreciate us. We need you like noodles need sauce. :)
