My intention is to blog daily for a while to get back into the habit, but of course I didn't get a chance yesterday! What did I do instead? Well...I washed a lot of dishes, did a lot of laundry, gave the public areas of the house a good tidying up, ran tons of errands, including a trek to Target, cooked a very yummy dinner of chicken, artichoke and fennel fricassee for some friends, baked a chocolate cake from scratch, and snuggled Deacon every time I sat down!
I did get a tiny bit of knitting done too. I'm working on a new sweater, started last Thursday. It's Goodale (Ravelry Link) by Cecily Glowik MacDonald. A simple little spring cardigan with cute folded over pockets. I'm knitting it with Madelinetosh Vintage in the Terra colorway. It's actually more orange than this picture shows, kind-of a burnt orange with pink highlights. I love it. I love the color, I love the way the yarn feels, and I love the simplicity of knitting the yoke on a top-down raglan.
It was such a beautiful sunny morning that I took this picture out on my deck, which is probably why the color is so off--too much sunlight! But, it's hard to complain when I have such a lovely deck in the woods. Here's part of the view I see every morning from my living room:
Lots and lots of redwoods, with some other trees and bushes thrown in for variety! I can't wait until it's consistently warm out and I can spend more time lounging on my deck. I bought a mini propane grill, and have one lounge chair so far, but have plans for a few more, now that they are in season and easier to find deals on.
OK, time to get back to work. I'm drafting the Palm Sunday bulletin, adjusting the announcements, trying to figure out how to fit everything in and make it meaningful while keeping the service to a reasonable length...it's harder than it sounds!
Don't forget the taxes!
