Yesterday we rode with the Dykes on Bikes in the San Francisco Pride Parade. I wore this lacy tank top that I knit from AlchemyWabi-Sabi (66% silk, 34% wool) on size 15 needles in a pattern I improvised.
I wanted to have a knitted aspect to my outfit, and at first I had big plans for something a lot more flamboyant. However, time get away from me, and I only managed to finish the tank top.
This yarn is really lovely. It's soft and slightly shiny, and I'm considering frogging the tank soon so I can knit with it again! I'm thinking it would make a really lovely wrap or shawl...but perhaps I will wear it a few more times before I rip it out.
The parade was great fun, even though it was already quite hot out by the time we rode at 10:30 AM. Yes, all the bikes ride together. About four hundred motorcycles that start off the parade.
The noise from the pipes is amazing, and it's so cool to see all the joyful people watching us. I love it, because I get to wave and blow kisses at the crowd, and lots of people wave back and cheer and tell us we are hot : )
After the parade, we had lunch in the Castro and I picked up a skein of yarn for vacation knitting at Imagiknit before we headed home for a long nap!
In my next post, I'll share some more pictures from the morning, including more of these hilarious Red Hat ladies posing with bikers!

The tank came out GREAT! Looks like you both had a blast, I'm so glad :)

The last picture is of Cordelia trying to do her tough biker chick impression.

We didn't go to the parade on Sunday, but I looked for you in the motorcycle contingent at the Dyke March on Saturday night!

I love you sweetie, and your pride post made me cry at my desk with happiness and gratitude for the lives we both get to have. How lucky are we right?
