Well, how can it have been over a week since my last post?? I guess because it's been a busy week. Let's catch you up, shall we?
As you can see, it was not a pretty sight. I made her drink many mugs of disgusting detox tea and theraflu and airborne, and made sure she kept warm (hence the gloves) and stayed in bed.
One has to be very stern when dealing with a sick Gayle, because the minute one turns one's back, she will be out the door on the way to some church meeting or pastoral call. She doesn't rest willingly.
Here's Eva working on her "Salad Wristers" in a lovely Japanese kid merino (I think). I taught her magic loop, so that's the method she's using here! I'm not sure she's convinced that it's better than using dpn's, but at least she knows how to do it now.
She has a lot of experience with this. And Les could take lessons from her in proper lys behavior--she actually expressed interest in the yarn for the first half hour or so before she gave up hope of our getting out of there quickly, and sat down on the couch to wait.
E and J have been on a road trip for the past few days, down to Santa Barbara, but should be back tomorrow for more knitting fun.
Obviously, the pattern was written for someone with a much shorter torso than mine. I bought a great button for it the other day, and so I hope to be done with this sweater within a week.
Now, you may be wondering where this picture was taken. (hopefully you're ignoring the long and windswept hair--don't worry, I got a trim this evening!)
Well, yesterday I had an all day staff
meeting retreat at a beautiful beach house near Bodega Bay. Gorgeous doesn't begin to describe it.
This was the view from the deck (and living room windows), and it was sunny and warm most of the day. Even the drive up was beautiful, with lots of rolling hills, cows, sheep, and ocean! (I took Les' car and got to be alone, driving fast with the music cranked up, singing at the top of my lungs--heaven!)
It was definitely a welcome retreat from the stress and anxiety and non-stop classes and meetings that are my life right now. So, there you have it! A recap of all you've missed in the last week. Let the commenting commence!
